Skit on Communal Harmony (December 19)
Students of classes VI to VIII presented a skit on communal harmony during assembly.
Based on the theme of universal brotherhood, the play commenced with Gandhiji’s favourite bhajan –‘Ishwar Allah tero naam, sabko sammati de Bhagwan’. Then came upon the stage a Punjabi couple offering sweets to members of a particular community who insulted the former by not accepting these. Two other religious groups were seen arguing over the noise created with their different style of worshipping. Disagreement between them led to a scuffle which was stopped by one wise person who made them recall the childhood days of peace and harmony when there were no ill feelings against any religion or religious beliefs. The play ended with the chanting of “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram” as Bharat Mata stood proudly beside her children.
The play with its relatable plot, certainly made an impression. It helped students understand importance of communal harmony.
KHADI DAY (December 26)
‘Khadi wearing day’ was organized to make the students understand its importance. Students of classes V to VIII were asked to come dressed in kurta, shirt and jacket made of the handwoven natural cloth.
Students of classes VI to IX presented an informative skit ‘Kahan Gayee Khadi’ to stage the usefulness of khadi. It showed a set of young children who reach a party dressed in formals. The child who arrives in khadi arouses curiosity in others to know about khadi. He invites them to meet his grandfather who tells them about Gandhiji’s initiative in boycotting the foreign goods and spinning ‘charkha’ to make yarn from cotton for weaving cloth. They are also informed that khadi is warm in winters and cool in summers.
It was an interesting and informative skit that was enjoyed by the students.
